“In an external business environment, where mergers can unlock value, it’s crucial to understand how to assess what the new organization requires and how to achieve that through integration.”
Kevin LeGrand, PhD, works with clients on governance and cultural integration – ensuring that newly configured organizations that result from mergers and affiliations fulfill their strategic vision. Most recently, with healthcare clients, Kevin has helped multiple, separate boards create partnership structures that will prove effective in a vastly transformed healthcare industry, while retaining critical elements of their legacy identity, values, and organization. In addition to identifying effective board structures, he specializes in creating governance guidance and decision authorities.
Kevin comes to Nygren Consulting from Cohesion Partners, a consulting firm he founded in 2001 to aid corporations, non-profits, and government agencies with systematic, proven approaches to executive leadership, performance assessment, succession planning, strategy development, and organizational alignment. Client assignments included working with a regional healthcare provider – executive leaders of acute care, rehabilitative, and behavioral health entities – to merge disparate cultures into a unified health system. His work included preparing corporate-wide executive competencies and proficiency standards, linking those with a system-wide leadership development program, as well as conducting a review of emergency department processes, systems, and personnel. For a cabinet-level department of the U.S. Government comprising 22 separate entities and 200,000 employees, Kevin constructed the 18-month multi-phase and multi-track approach to ensure smooth leadership succession as top executives were replaced by others from a new Presidential administration.
In the for-profit sector, Kevin led a team working to merge four regional cellular companies into a national presence, facilitating meetings of board members and executives to reach consensus on the merged entity’s vision, mission, market positioning, and operating characteristics.
Kevin has taught graduate studies in organizational development at George Mason University and Trinity Washington University.
